Carole Naomi Marks Arthurs, age 90, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025 at The Green’s of Spruce Pine.
Born on October 5, 1934 in Cambridge, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Marjorie Allison Marks and Edward Stanley Marks. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James William Arthurs who passed away on April 1st, 2007. Also preceding her in death was her sons; Timothy, Andrew, and Kristopher and her brother; Charles (Corky) Marks and sister-in-law; Carolyn Pritz Marks.
Left to cherish her memories are her children; James Scott Arthurs (Rhonda) of Intercession City, Florida, Jamie Arthurs Snyder and husband, Charlie of Spruce Pine and Shawn Arthurs and wife, Deborah of Orlando, Florida, twelve grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.
Carole was a member of Walnut Grove Church, in Avery County, NC and former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Winter Park, Florida.
She resided in New Philadelphia, Ohio until moving to Florida in 1970. She moved to Spruce Pine, NC from Winter Park, FL, in 2012 to live with her daughter, Jamie Snyder.
Carole was a stay at-home mom while her children were young. She then worked as a Vanda Beauty Counselor and GAC Properties. She then served as an Associate Editor/Advertising Director/Photographer of the Winter Park/Maitland Observer for twenty years before retiring.
Carole was very active in community service areas. She served on several boards: including the American Heart Association, several Art Festival Committees in Winter Park, and was a volunteer with “One Day with God Camp.” She was active in the Maitland and Winter Park Rotary before joining the Spruce Pine Rotary when she moved to North Carolina.
Her hobbies included photography, singing, writing poetry, and clowning as “Tutti Frutti.” She loved and cherished her time with her family and pets. She was always known for trying to take just one more picture.
Funeral services for Carole Athurs will be on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Walnut Grove Church with Rev. Kurt Bomar, and the Rev. Bob Ivins officiating, Christen Bagwell will be offering a eulogy. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Walnut Grove Church. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, FL outside of Orlando, details will be announced once completed and finalized.
