The Burnsville Police Department has released the following statement about the altercation that occurred on the Burnsville Town Square on Saturday June 14th. Statement from Burnsville Chief of Police Brain Buchanan, “The Burnsville Police Department is currently investigating an incident that occurred Saturday on the Town Square. The incident was an altercation between Norman Rabek, 73, of Burnsville and Randy Horton Jr., 53, of Spruce Pine. Officers have collected numerous eyewitness statements and other relevant evidence including available video footage of the incident. Our office will be conferring with the District Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriate charges to be filed.”
