The Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce celebrated two exciting milestones on Friday, June 27, with ribbon cutting ceremonies for Treehouse Mountain Realty and Cornerstone Family Health, marking continued growth and resilience in Spruce Pine.
The morning began with a celebration at Treehouse Mountain Realty, the second business to reopen on Locust Street following the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene. Owned by Lisy Thomas, the realty office signifies not just a new chapter for her business, but the ongoing revitalization of a cherished area in the heart of downtown. David and Tricia Niven, owners of the restored building, were present to mark the occasion and reflect on the hard work poured into the project by not only themselves but friends, volunteers and other workers.
Later in the day, the Chamber joined Elizabeth Sparks, FNP, for the grand opening of Cornerstone Family Health, a new medical practice in Spruce Pine. Elizabeth, a Family Nurse Practitioner, brings her passion for patient-centered care and her dedication to community wellness to this much-needed new service in the region.
“These ribbon cuttings are about more than just new signs and fresh paint—they represent the heart of what makes Mitchell County strong: our small business owners, our dreamers, our doers,” said Nikki Presnell, President, Board of Directors, Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce. “We’re honored to celebrate and support these businesses as they open their doors and grow in our community.”
