Parkway Playhouse’s 78th season is in full swing! Whether you’re looking for something fun to do with the kids or a night out on the town, this historic theater has something for everyone.

Bloodletting in These Hills is showing August 1-10, 2025. The winner of the 2024 Appalachian Playwriting Festival. More than 7,500 strikers walked out of more than 90 mines in the Paint Creek and Cabin Creek coal fields of West Virginia during the bloody 1912-1914 labor war. This show is the story of one family caught in the crosshairs of that struggle.

Bloodletting in These Hills is showing August 1st at 7:30pm; August 2nd at 7:30pm; August 3rd at 2:30pm; August 8th at 7:30pm; August 9th at 7:30pm; and August 10th at 2:30pm. Use code BLOODLETTING for 50% off tickets to shows on August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. A talkback with playwright Walter Thinnes will take place immediately following the August 3rd performance. August 2nd and August 9th will be Pay-What-You-Can performances.

The Appalachian Playwriting Festival is happening September 12-14, 2025, at Parkway Playhouse. This festival will feature staged readings of new plays written by Appalachian Playwrights or plays that represent Appalachian Culture in some way. One script from this festival will be chosen to be produced in their 2026 Mainstage Season!

Arsenic and Old Lace is showing October 10-19, 2025. Drama critic Mortimer Brewster’s engagement announcement is upended when he discovers a corpse in his elderly aunts’ window seat. Mortimer rushes to tell Abby and Martha before they stumble upon the body themselves, only to learn that the two old women aren’t just aware of the dead man in their parlor, they killed him! Between his aunts’ penchant for poisoning wine, a brother who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, and another brother using plastic surgery to hide from the police—not to mention Mortimer’s own hesitancy about marriage—it’ll be a miracle if Mortimer makes it to his wedding. Arsenic and Old Lace is a classic black comedy about the only thing more deadly than poison: family. October 11th and October 18th will be Pay-What-You-Can performances.

Beetlejuice JR is showing November 7-15, 2025. Featuring Parkway Playhouse Junior Students, this show follows Lydia Deetz, a quirky teenager fascinated with death, who moves into a haunted house inhabited by the recently deceased couple, Adam and Barbara Maitland. When Lydia accidentally summons the mischievous bio-exorcist Beetlejuice, chaos ensues as he tries to teach the Maitlands how to scare the living, leading to hilarious and spooky situations. Through her interactions with Beetlejuice, Lydia must confront her grief and learn to embrace the strange and unusual aspects of life and death. Registration is open now for this show.
