Jimmy Dean Wilson

Jimmy Dean Wilson, age 72, of the Celo Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, at his home.  A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Elmer and Ina Juanita Buchanan Boone.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara Pruitt Wilson; his brother, Jerry Wilson; a sister, Judy Wilson; Aurtherine Boone who was like a sister to him and his aunt who raised him, Mabel Boone; and special grandparents, Mommy and Poppie Boone whom he loved to talk about.

Jimmy was a true outdoorsman who loved spending his time in the woods.  He enjoyed coon hunting, picking galax, and logging timber gave him the opportunity to be outdoors where he loved to be.  He also enjoyed working on cars in his free time.  If you ever met Jimmy, at some point you’d hear him having conversations about his Aunt Mabel Boone who raised him, and her daughter, Aurtherine Boone.  They were the foundation of his upbringing and he loved talking about how much he adored them both.

Left to cherish his memory are his two sons:  Randy Wilson (Jill) of Micaville and Rodney Wilson (Misty Elliott) of the White Oak Community on South Toe; two sisters:  Pat McCurry (Tony) of Burnsville and Lenna Cutshall of Cameno Island in Washington; granddaughter, Layla Wilson of Micaville; and Elizabeth Ray, the mother of his children, of Lower Browns Creek on South Toe.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 11th at the Boone Cemetery on Upper Browns Creek.
