Robert (Bobby) Gouge, 82, of Bakersville, passed away Thursday, August 7th, 2025, at his home on Bad Creek. A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Stokes and Bertie Gouge. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Jean Gouge Callahan, Jack Gouge, Nealy Jo Gouge Hughes, and Geraldine Gouge Hensley.
He worked many years in factories, but his passion was cattle and tobacco farming. He will long be remembered as a great husband, father, uncle, and his favorite role as Papaw to Jennings Griffith.
Left to cherish in his memory are his wife of 41 years, Rita Gouge; his children: Wesley Gouge (Jessica), Nick Gouge, Kayla Gouge Griffith (Brian), and Cami Gouge; and one grandchild, our special boy, Jennings Griffith. Bobby is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Russ Memorial Cemetery.
