Charles Putman, 80 years old of Rising Fawn, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the DeKalb Regional Medical Center in Fort Payne, AL, after a short sickness from aspiration pneumonia.
He was born on November 27, 1944, and was the oldest of 11 children.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Aught and Madeline Putman; his wife, Katy Putman; his brothers: Ray, Donald, Roger, Randy and Guy Putman; and his sisters: Phyllis Ann Gardner and Charlene Putman.
He was a native of Buladean, NC, and lived there up until 2024 when he moved to a rehab in Georgia due to his declining health. He loved his family and talked about them often. He quit school when he was in elementary school to go to work and help out at home. He worked hard most of his life at sawmill jobs and farming. He raised tobacco and had a pig farm for many years. He loved the Lord. He prayed and talked about the Bible a lot and said he was ready to go home when the Lord was ready to come get him. He greeted everyone he met by shaking their hand and saying, “God bless you”. He learned to play bingo later in life and really enjoyed playing it, as well as butter bean auction at the rehab where he resided prior to his passing.
