
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, two minor earthquakes shook through western North Carolina this week.
The first quake, which occurred at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Transylvania County, measured a magnitude of 2.1. The earthquake was detected approximately 2.5 miles west-southwest of Rosman.
The second, a 1.8 magnitude earthquake, was detected five miles west of Bakersville in Mitchell County at 6:21 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11.
No damage or injuries have been reported from either incident.
