Rita Morey passed away at The Greens in Spruce Pine, N.C. after a short illness. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & great-great grandmother.
Rita was born in Poughkeepsie, NY to Reverand Hughe Glen & Margarite Myers.
She attended Arlington schools and was a devoted member of Bakersville United Methodist Church. She loved the Lord.
She married the love of her life, Ronald Morey in 1957 and was a devoted wife of 54 yrs. A loving mother to Ronald Morey Jr. (Debra) of Bakersville.
She was a grandmother to Paul Frasier (Jessica), Jessica Porter (Duane), Joshua Morey (Tracey) all of Bakersville and Shawna More (Mandy) of Gastonia. Great Grandmother to Dana Porter, Duane Porter, Jane cook, Skyla Frasier, Ashton Frasier & Dixie Frasier Great-great grandmother to Colton Atwood
Rita was a very happy and loving person who made friends easily and a devoted Christian.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Jane Smith (Richard), Eileen Pike (Herb), Betty Myers, Brothers Keith Myers (Linda), Rev. Harry Myers (Anne) as well as her mother and father.
Rita was employed as a bookkeeper with Lums Building Supply in Poughkeepsie, NY.
She loved puzzles and crafting and going to the Senior center.
Services will be held at the United Methodist Church, 5786 Hwy. 226W, Bakersville, NC (Red Hill) by Paster James Durham on Sept. 18th 2025 at 6pm
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Mitchell County Senior Center, 152 Ledger School Rd., Bakersville, NC 28705
