Pearl Banks Yelton

Pearl Banks Yelton, age 83, of Red Hill, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 14th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  A native of  Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Glen and Mae Mosley Banks.  She was also preceded in death by three brothers:  Russ, Marshall and Edmon Banks; four sisters:  her twin, Helen Yelton, Myrtle Butler, Ethel Hoilman and Mary Garland; five sisters-in-law:  Ruby Ray, Faye Byrd, Viola McIntosh, Marie Barnes and Irene Byrd; and two brothers-in-law:  R.L. Yelton and Jack Yelton.

Pearl’s was the perfect wife and mother, and her life centered around her family.  She enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening and canning.  She loved taking care of people, especially her family, and nothing meant more to her than her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her little dog, “Ginger”.  Memories of her will never be forgotten, and the love she bestowed upon her family will be in their hearts forever.

Pearl is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Wade Yelton of Bakersville; two daughters:  Darlene Grindstaff (Ronnie) of Bakersville and Rachel Hoilman (Bobby) of Spruce Pine; grandchildren:  Tim Yelton of Marion and Christina Wyatt of Spruce Pine, and Alyssa and Bryanna Renfro of Spruce Pine; two step-grandchildren:  Nathaniel and Braxton Hoilman; six great-grandchildren; four sisters:  Thelma Lovelace of Tennessee; Diane Farley, Josie Garland and Wanda Hope Yelton, all of Bakersville; and a brother, Ronnie Banks of Bakersville.  She is survived by many special nieces and nephews as well.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 18th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services.  Rev. Bobby Silvers and Rev. Dennis Bartlett will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Garland Cemetery at Bad Creek.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
