The National Park Service has announced completion of two landslide repair projects located at milepost 375 and 380 and reopened a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway from milepost 382, in Asheville to milepost 355.3 at the Ridge Junction Overlook, near NC 80 and the entrance to Mount Mitchell State Park.
This opening includes the Craggy Gardens Visitor Center, near milepost 364, Craggy Pinnacle Trail, and short sections of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. Locations that remain closed include the Craggy Gardens Picnic Area and sections of the Mountains to Sea Trail from the Craggy Trail Shelter to the Snowball Mountain Trail.
Mile post 333.9 near Little Switzerland to mile post 355.3 near Mount Mitchell State Park is still closed but you can access the park by driving to Weaverville and Reems Creek Rd, without having to drive down to Asheville. Estimated drive time to get there from Burnsville is about 1.5 hours. Stoney Fork Rd is closed so don’t take the route through Barnardsville.Google maps should pull this route up (Maps on IOS is still not updated).
That fall 2026 next to both closures means that they will hopefully be completed and opened by next year!
