Mary Martha Bodford Cox

Mary Martha Bodford Cox, age 71, of the Estatoe community passed away 2025 at her home.

Born on May 4, 1954 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Helen Riddle Bodford. Also preceding her in death were her brothers; Wynn Bodford and Thad Riddle and her sisters; Shelia Autrey and Juanita Ledford.

Martha loved driving her Celica or Mustang on the Blue Ridge Parkway while listening to 70’s music. Her favorite artists were Bob Seger and C.C.R.

She also enjoyed shopping at Goodwill Stores, quilting, sewing and gardening. She enjoyed growing vegetables, flowers, trees and shrubs and taking photos of them to share with her Facebook friends.

She loved riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle and had many friends in Florida that she met as a result of her love of riding.

She was also an avid lover and protector of all animals that she came in contact with and put the wellbeing of her cats before anything else. She leaves behind her most current cat fur babies, including Tinker, Mollie, Jessie, Mommy, Charlotte, June, Katrina, Jack, Sugar, Skeeter, and her Siamese favorite, Mickey Lee.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of forty-eight years; Keith Cox of the home, her daughter; Tracie Bodford and husband, Greg Varner of Jacksonville, FL family friend, Missy Whitson of Mars Hill and many friends and family from North Carolina and Florida.

No services are planned at this time.
