Come join High Peaks on Friday, October 10 for an easy to moderate hike at Lamar Alexander State Park, Flag Pond, Tn., about a 30-minute drive from Burnsville.
Fall foliage should be near its peak, and we’ll enjoy views of beautiful rock formations as we hike a fairly flat trail along Flint Creek with a possible additional loop trail before we turn around and return to the starting point.
The hike will be about 6 miles in length and should take about 3 hours. Come prepared with good hiking shoes, hiking poles if you use them, lunch or snacks (your choice), plenty of water and appropriate clothing for the weather forecast. Leashed dogs are welcome, but please bring a poop bag!
Meet at the Rose’s Shopping Center parking lot in Burnsville at 8:30 a.m. and we’ll carpool from there. Hikers are also welcome to meet at the park trailhead around 9 a.m. You can find directions to the park on their website. Please text Hike Leader Diane Shramm at 904-349-0479 to reserve a spot in the group or if you have questions. As always, check the High Peaks Facebook page or website, www.nchighpeaks.org, for last-second changes due to the weather.
