Kimberly (Kim) Williams

Kimberly (Kim) Williams, age 50, of the Jacks Creek Community, left this walk of life to enter her Eternal Home with Jesus on Sunday, October 19th, 2025, after an inspiring and very courageous 11-year battle with cancer. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of Frank James and Maxine Blankenship Scott of Pensacola.  Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Alvin and Lucille Blankenship.

A devoted member of Zion Baptist Church, Kim loved the Lord with all her heart, and her strength was rooted deeply in her relationship with Him.  She lived her faith throughout every part of her life.  She found peace in her beach and camping trips, joy in cheering on her two sons as they raced, and made so many memories during her “girl trips” with her closest friends.  Her coworkers at the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office, where she honorably served as a dispatcher, were like family to her and she cherished the bonds she built there.  At home, Kim’s heart belonged to her fur buddy, Milly and, above all, to her family, especially her sweet granddaughter, Harper. Kim’s family meant more to her than anything, and the memories she created with them will be treasured forever.

In addition to her parents, her loved ones who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Joe Williams of Green Mountain; two sons:  Kaleb Tipton and wife, Madisson of Bakersville, and Kannon Williams of Green Mountain; and her beloved granddaughter, Harper Tipton.  She also leaves behind her canine companion, Milly, and far too many friends to count.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 27th at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Shane Gunter will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 5 until 6:30 p.m. prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.

Though her journey was long and filled with many challenges, Kim faced each day with grace, faith in the Lord, and an unshakable spirit that touched everyone.  Her faith never wavered, and she leaves behind a legacy of courage, compassion, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
