Yancey County Sheriff Shane Hilliard said that a fugitive wanted in Florida was captured on Tuesday, Oct. 21 and is currently being detained in the Yancey County Detention Center.
The Sheriff said that Franklin Thomas Oldham was apprehended without incident at a residence in Yancey County. Oldham was wanted for assault by strangulation. Oldham is being held under a $1 million bond.
The Sheriff’s Department is currently in the process of extraditing the fugitive back to Florida.
