Daylight Saving Time Ends

fall-back

It’s that time of year again — time to “fall back.” Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2nd. Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour before bed Saturday night. We’ll gain an extra hour of sleep, but evenings will start getting darker an hour earlier.

Daylight Saving Time was first introduced in 1918 under President Woodrow Wilson to help conserve energy during World War I. It wasn’t until the Uniform Time Act of 1966 that the system was standardized nationwide, though states could still choose not to observe it.

Over the years, the dates have changed several times. Congress extended DST during the 1970s energy crisis, and in 2005 set the current schedule — beginning the second Sunday in March and ending the first Sunday in November.

So this weekend, remember: “fall back” one hour as we return to standard time.
