The Toe Cane Beekeepers Association (TCBA), a local nonprofit serving the bees and beekeepers of Mitchell, Avery, and Yancey counties, has elected new officers to serve through October 2026.
Ann Concannon Coomber of Pensacola was elected president. Camille Collins of Burnsville will serve as vice president. Emily Beckwith of Pensacola is the new treasurer. David Reeder of Cane Creek was elected secretary. Susan Sigmon of South Toe has been confirmed as member-at-large. Both Coomber and Reeder have served previously as TCBA officers.
“I am honored to be working with the TCBA beekeepers to advance our mission of supporting bees and beekeepers across the three-county region,” said Coomber. “This year’s board is committed to continuing the association’s educational efforts within the community through partnerships with local organizations, youth outreach, and support for our fellow beekeepers.”
In addition to hosting a series of guest lectures by prominent beekeepers and educators from across the region, the organization operates the TCBA Educational Apiary at Mayland where new or prospective beekeepers can gain hands-on experience and valuable training. The apiary also exposes experienced beekeepers to new technology, techniques, and mite treatments that may benefit their hives.
The Toe Cane Beekeepers Association is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit promoting sustainable beekeeping practices in Mitchell, Avery, and Yancey counties. The association supports the beekeeping community by encouraging cooperation among local beekeepers and through hands-on training, mentoring, and classroom lectures.
