The Democrats in Mitchell and Avery Counties are gathering to celebrate the holidays, and we hope you will join us! We plan to ring in the holiday season at The Dispensary & Upper Club (269 Oak Avenue) in Spruce Pine at 5:00-9:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8th. All are welcome!
We will have a fun-filled evening with delicious food, great holiday music, some fun and games, words of wisdom from some of our 2026 candidates, and wonderful fellowship with our friends and neighbors!
The Mitchell County Democratic Party (MCDP) will be providing the turkey and yeast rolls. It is our hope that you (if you are able) will bring your favorite holiday side dish (e.g. casseroles, scalloped potatoes, macaroni & cheese, deviled eggs, corn, and etc.) or dessert to share with us. You should contact our banquet manager, Danna Gibson (dannagibson60@gmail.com), to let her know what you will be bringing so that we can ensure that we have enough to feed everyone.
The MCDP supports The Beacon Center of Spruce Pine, an overnight warming center that offers protection from the cold weather when it is a Code Purple (30 degrees or below) night, The mission of the Beacon Center is to provide a warm, safe, non-judgmental space to sleep during extreme cold for the Mayland community and surrounding areas. This year, we are asking our attendees to bring at least one (or more) pop-top non-perishable food item(s) so that we can help the Beacon Center provide its guests with nourishment during their stay. Some items you might consider are: cans of soup (any kind) or chili; Vienna sausage; baby cereal; Chef Boyardee spaghetti; individual packs of cookies or chips; small containers of puddings, Jello, or applesauce; individual packs or cans of tuna fish; and, canned vegetables. Please remember that all cans must be pop-top items.
