The House vote on the Continuing Resolution and funding package finally brought an end to the left’s hostage crisis against the American people. Their radical “spend-now, pay later” agenda is crippling future generations and leading our country toward a path of communism – a direct violation of American principles and ideals.
Thankfully, my colleagues and I were able to stave off their agenda’s direct threat to our way of life and restore essential services to the American people who need them – not illegal immigrants.

On day 35 of the longest government shutdown in history, I joined Speaker of the House Mike Johnson on the steps of the U.S. Capitol to send a clear message: it’s time for Senate Democrats to reopen the government and start working for the American people.
One week later, after more than a month of stalling and holding the American people hostage with an unnecessary government shutdown, the Senate finally advanced a funding package back to the House. I voted YES on final approval to fully reopen the government to reopen the federal government, restore Hurricane Helene recovery efforts, and replenish FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund.
I’m pushing Governor Stein to heed the pleas from the men and women of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fraternal Order of Police and send the North Carolina National Guard to Charlotte. Under Democrat control, Charlotte has been ravaged with multiple homicides. The murder rate in uptown Charlotte is 200% higher than it was a year ago – a direct reflection of the left’s failed soft-on-crime policies.
This number isn’t just a statistic, it’s families in our state’s largest city whose lives are now irreparably harmed by violent crime.
Local law enforcement has made it clear: they are stretched dangerously thin. Repeat offenders are walking free, even individuals arrested dozens of times, thanks to a liberal ideology that cares more about protecting rapists, murderers, and criminals than YOU. Until our judicial system ensures accountability, our officers need immediate support to protect their communities and themselves.
That’s why my North Carolina colleagues and I are pushing Governor Stein to deploy the North Carolina National Guard to Charlotte to assist our men and women in blue and restore law and order to North Carolina’s largest city.

In 2025 alone, more than 7,000 Christians were massacred in Nigeria, 54 of whom were killed in a gruesome Palm Sunday attack. Let’s call it what it is: this is a genocide of our brothers and sisters in Christ. When adjusted for population, Christians in Nigeria are five times more likely to be killed than Muslims. The radical left has spent the last two years defending terrorists who hate America and shouting “genocide” every chance they get – yet they remain silent when it is Christians who are being mass-murdered.
Thankfully, we have a President in the White House who is willing to stand up for Christians around the world. I’m backing President Trump’s actions to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) for their attempted extermination of Christians in Nigeria.
One of the central freedoms we have as citizens of the greatest country in the world is our ability to practice our faith freely, without fear of retaliation. Sadly, this is not the reality for many around the world. Through this designation, the United States will be able to take more robust actions to push for systemic change in Nigeria, promote religious freedom, and protect Christians there from further horrific attacks.
