Sheila Raye, 77, of Burnsville, NC, passed away peacefully on December 6th, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on February 15th, 1948, in Asheville, NC. She was a devoted wife of 58 years, mother, sister, aunt, Nana, great-nana, and a devoted member of the community.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lewellin and Jenni Goodman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ned and Ruby Raye; brother-in-law, Daniel Raye; and her great-granddaughter, Psalm Anderson.
Sheila is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Steve Raye of Burnsville, NC; daughters: Leslie (Phil) Anderson of Lascassas, TN, and Melissa Raye of McMinnville, TN; brothers: Bobby Goodman and Lou Goodman, both of Black Mountain, NC; sister, Sandy Goodman of Black Mountain, NC; sisters-in-law, Marsha (Jimmy) Banks of Burnsville, NC and Brenda Raye of Navarre, FL; grandsons: Philip (Kara) Anderson of Woodbury, TN, Ethan Anderson of Lascassas, TN, and Jared (Michelle) Anderson of Readyville, TN; granddaughter, Gracie Anderson (fiancé Luke Robertson) of Lascassas, TN; and great-granddaughter, Ezrah Anderson, along with many nieces, nephews, and her closest friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2026 when arrangements have been finalized. The family will announce the date, time and location as soon as possible.
