Tommy Willis, age 82, of Bear Creek Church Road in Bakerville, the Ledger community, passed away Friday, December 12, 2025 at his home.
Born on March 19, 1943 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Wade and Pansy Grindstaff Willis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Wadie Willis, and his sister, Mary Sue Buchanan.
Tommy was a charter member of Mitchell Baptist Church and served in the National Guard. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening. He also enjoyed woodworking, camping and fishing.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife; Reva Greene Willis of the home, his daughters; Debra Cagle and husband, Mark of Bakersville, Melanie Burse and husband, Terry of Spruce Pine, and Lori Burleson and husband, Stacey of Bakersville, his brother; Teddy Willis of Bakersville, his twin sister; Betty Norman, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Tommy Willis will be on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Chris Rathbone, Blake Glenn, and Colton Burse officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the church. Interment will be in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a ‘Special Thank You’ to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for their care of Tommy during his illness.
