Rosa Belle Hise Horton, of the Banks Creek Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 16th, 2025, at The Greens. Born on December 21st, 1937 in Mitchell County, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Pansy Thomas Hise. She was also preceded in death as well by her loving husband of 25 years, David Horton; sister, Bobbie Jean Hise English; and brother, Ralph Hise Sr.
Rosa was a dedicated member of Cane River Baptist Church for almost 30 years. She loved spending time with her church family whom she was close to. In her later years her church family would often drop by for a visit and she was always overjoyed and excited to see them. She loved camping and enjoyed being outdoors in the fresh mountain air. Above all Rosa was a homemaker. She spent many hours working in her garden and canning vegetables she had grown. Family was very important to Rosa and she took pride in the fact she taught her oldest son to fish and drive a vehicle.
Rosa leaves behind her two sons: David Hise (Rhonda) and Victor Horton (Misty); three grandchildren: Brenley Horton, Baedyn Horton and Kris Ivey (David); two great-grandchildren: Zac and Gabe; three brothers: Jessie Hise, Lloyd Hise Jr. and Phillip Hise (Lesia); several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2025 at Cane River Baptist Church, located at 15 Cane River Church Road, Burnsville, NC 28714. Burial will follow in the Banks Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. prior to the funeral services at the church.
The Horton family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Rosa’s nieces: Lois and Jennette Hoyle (Jimmy) and her nephew Steve for always coming by to see her and help take care of her in her final days. A special thank you to the staff at The Greens and to Hospice of the Blue Ridge for the wonderful care they provided to Rosa as well.
