A Spruce Pine man is facing felony charges following an investigation into a stolen vehicle.
Detectives with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office have charged 27-year-old Nicholas Gregory Pendley of Spruce Pine with felony larceny of a motor vehicle. Authorities say Pendley was denied bond because he was already out on pretrial release.
The case began December 2nd, when a McDowell County resident reported her vehicle had been taken from her driveway without permission. The victim later located the vehicle at an auto body shop in Spruce Pine but was unable to recover it due to a mechanic’s lien placed on the car.
Following an investigation, detectives determined the vehicle had been taken without authorization, leading to the charge. The Spruce Pine Police Department assisted in the investigation.
Pendley remains in custody as the case moves forward.
