Dorothy Fisher Tehandón age 83, formerly of Anna Illinois and for the past few years of Spruce Pine, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on January 11, 2026.
Born on September 2, 1942 in Lansing, Michigan to Marvin and Gayla Clarke-Fisher. She graduated from Greenville College University in Illinois with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a Spanish/English Focus.
She taught Spanish and English in the Golconda and Dongola School systems in southern Illinois. On August 1st, 1985 she married Salvador Tehandón Cupa and remained married to him until his death on July 5, 2020.
When she retired from teaching, she moved to North Carolina to care for her aging father where she remained until her death. She loved anything to do with the Spanish language, often interpreting at her local hospital in Anna and tutoring students in Spanish and English. She also enjoyed spending time with family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Salvador Tehandón Cupa and her son Melchor Tehandon. She is survived by her step children: Elena (Aurelio) Tomas, Juan (Concepcio) Tehandón, (Teresa) Tehandón, Abel (Arminda) Tehandón, Rey (Alicia) Tehandón, Mario (Armela) Tehandón, Jaime (Marisol) Tehandón, José (Jerri) Tehandón and a multitude of step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She has 3 surviving siblings: Richard (Marlene) Fisher, Thomas (Gail) Fisher, and Barbara (Dan) Webb.
Funeral services are to be held at Webb Funeral Home on January 31, 2026 at 11:00 AM
