Betty Norris Beam, age 89, of Ivy Laurel Drive in Spruce Pine, the Ingalls community, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Born on June 6, 1936 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Brady Harmon Norris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Max B. Reece and her second husband, Eddie A. Beam.
Betty loved her heavenly father. She never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand and was known to always be willing to help others in a time of need. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Green Valley Volunteer Fire Department for thirty years.
Left to cherish her memories are her son; Phil Reece (Gina) of Spruce Pine, her grandson; James Reece (Samantha) of Spruce Pine, her granddaughter; Jessica Soufrine (Josh) of Flower Mound,TX, her great grandson; Jackson Soufrine, great granddaughters; Taylor, McKenzie and Jerrica Reece, and Stella Soufrine, her step grandchildren; Greg, Brandy and Cassey Swann and nine step great grandchildren.
The funeral service for Betty Beam will be on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Whites Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Michael Dale Laws and Adam Davis officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Whites Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Fall Creek Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a ‘Special Thank You’ to Zilla Aldridge, Cindy Pendley, Hospice & Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge, Chaplain, Adam Davis, social worker, Tyler Honeycutt for their wonderful care and concern of Betty during her illness.
