Rickey Brown, age 61, of Bill Allen Branch, passed away at his home on Monday, February 9th, 2026. A native of Yancey County, he was a son to Dean Mack and Jaquetta “Keta” Perkins Brown. In addition to his father, Rickey was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Claudie Perkins; a brother, Noel Brown; and a niece, Amara Shade.
Rickey was a simple man who found happiness in life’s littlest moments. He loved being outdoors, where he felt most at peace. Whether he was riding four-wheelers, spending time in nature or simply enjoying the fresh air, that’s where Rickey was truly himself. In addition, he also had a deep love for animals. Rickey enjoyed collecting guns and knives, a hobby that brought him pride and enjoyment over the years. Rickey loved listening to and playing music. He was especially fond of the Rock and Roll genre. It brought much comfort and joy throughout his life. Music was something that could always lift his spirits.
More than anything, Rickey loved his family and friends. They were the center of his world and he valued time spent together.
Those left behind to cherish Rickey’s memories are his sons: Daniel Brown (Shelly) of Lexington, SC and Cameron Brown (Danielle) of Burnsville; two sisters: Nola Shade (Stephen) also of Burnsville and Deena Johnston (James) of Bowling Springs, SC; his beloved grandchildren: Emery, Noel, Jensen and Jaxton Brown; two nieces: Stephanie Brown and Alexis Tipton; his nephews: Garret Brown, Trenton and Trevor Woods, Kaden and Chance Shade. Numerous cousins and other family members along with his beloved brothers in his band “Krystal Image” also survive.
A celebration of life is currently being planned and will be announced.
