WAMY Community Action has opened applications for its housing assistance programs serving Watauga, Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey counties. The programs help low-income families make homes safer and more energy efficient through a streamlined application process.
Services include urgent home repairs through the Urgent Repair Program and Essential Single-Family Rehab program, addressing issues such as leaking roofs, electrical and plumbing hazards, and other safety concerns. WAMY also offers weatherization services to lower energy bills.
Households must earn below 200% of the federal poverty level to qualify. Assistance is available for homeowners with site-built homes or mobile homes on permanent foundations, and renters may qualify for weatherization with landlord approval.
Applications are available online, by mail, or in person at wamycommunityaction.org or by calling 828-264-2421.
