A native of Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Arthur Edward Street and Annie Mae Webb Street. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Peterson Street; sister, Sandy Hise and a brother, Mark Street.
Mike’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, particularly his beloved grandkids, and he was always ready to lend a hand to a neighbor or anyone in need. Known for his hardworking spirit, Mike was a pillar of the Red Hill community, where he built his legacy as the proud owner of Red Hill Hardware. Mike was a devoted family man and proud advocate for his community. He took immense pride in his roots, often sharing his strong opinions on matters big and small, and anyone who knew him knew that all they had to do was ask to hear them.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Mike served in the U.S. Army, and his service was a source of great pride. He was also a past member of the Bakersville Masonic Lodge No. 357, where he built lasting friendships. Mike will be remembered as someone who was always willing to help, whose dedication to his family, friends, and community will never be forgotten.
