U.S. Congressman Chuck Edwards is bringing millions of federal dollars back to the High Country to support local infrastructure and public safety.
Edwards has secured four million dollars in federal funding for the Town of Spruce Pine to help with critical water infrastructure projects. Town officials say they are grateful for the continued support from federal and state leaders as they invest in the community’s long-term needs.
In Yancey County, Edwards also presented a 930-thousand-dollar Community Project Funding award to the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office. The funding will go toward critical communications upgrades to strengthen emergency response capabilities.
Edwards says first responders are on the front lines every day, and investing in the tools they need is essential to keeping communities safe. The funds were secured through the Fiscal Year 2026 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies appropriations bill.
