Primary Election Day is Tomorrow

Primary election day is tomorrow. Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Voters will choose nominees who will advance to the November general election.

In Mitchell County, voters are choosing nominees for several county offices including the Board of Commissioners. Voters choose three from a field of six candidates which includes Republican candidates Vic Burleson, Becky Grant, Jeff Harding, Harley Masters, Steve Pitman, and Donald Street .

Shana W. Buchanan and David Wheeler are competing for Mitchell County Clerk of Superior Court. Cecil Curtis Hobson Jr. and Shane Vance are competing for the sheriff position.

In Yancey County, several key local races include Yancey County Board of Commissioners where voters will choose three from the five people seeking the nomination. On the ballot are Randy Buckner, Stacey McEntyre Greene, David Grindstaff, Jason J. Silvers, and Sandi Norton.

Local voters will also see other state and federal races on their ballots based on party affiliation and residency.

All registered voters in North Carolina must show an acceptable form of photo identification at the polls.  Voting locations is different from the early vote. Voters will go to their assigned polling places.
