Charlie Lee Baker, 76, of Spruce Pine, passed away on March 24, 2026 at the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital.
He was born in McDowell County, NC to the late Billy Ray Baker and the late Ruby Winters Baker.
Charles was a devoted outdoorsman who found his greatest peace in the quiet of the woods and the rhythm of the open road. A skilled truck driver by trade, he spent many years traveling highways with a steady hand and a strong work ethic, earning the respect of those who knew him. In his free time, Charles had a deep passion for hunting and firearms, taking pride in the traditions and discipline they represent. Though he never had children of his own, he held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, cherishing every moment spent with them and leaving a lasting impression through his guidance, humor, and unwavering care. He will be remembered for his independence, loyalty, and the simple joy he found in the life he lived.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Baker.
He is survived by his loving sister, Betty Silver; her sons, Tony Silver and his wife Lisa, along with their son Damien; and Lance Silver and his wife Kayla, along with their daughters, McKinley and Isabella. He is also survived by his niece, Becky Loftis and her husband Bo of Marion; his niece, BJ Johnson and her husband Dudley; and his nephew, Carroel Baker of Newland.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 27, 2026 in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.
