Wade Miller, age 75, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 23, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 14, 1951 to the late Clate and Nola Byrd Miller. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Darrell, Harold Dean, and Danny Miller, all of Burnsville.
He was born and raised in Yancey County, where he spent his entire life. Wade was a devoted family man who was deeply loved by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters: Shirley Smith and her husband, James, of Burnsville, and Mapha Copas of Hickory. He is also survived by his nieces: Kim Woody and her husband, Darrell, Lisa Pratt and her husband, Russell, Shannah Warren and Angie Warren, all of Burnsville and Jamie Warren of Hickory. Also surviving are his nephews, Jon Smith and his wife, Jennifer, Mike Smith of Burnsville, and Jeff Warren and his wife, Belinda, of Pennsylvania. He leaves behind numerous great-nieces and great-nephews who will continue to carry his memory forward.
A service will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Pastors Jason Penland and Ricky Bennett will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Hunter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gene Byrd, Bill Byrd, Junior Byrd, Bill Mitchell, Darrell Mitchell, Darrell Woody, and Russell Pratt.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kim Woody, Lisa Pratt, and Donna Hensley for the excellent care they provided to Wade at home during his brief illness.
