On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Linda Ann McKinney, age 81, of Burnsville, North Carolina, went home into the arms of her beloved daughter, Lynette. Also awaiting her arrival were her parents, Edward “Ed” Marion Burleson and Addie “Bill” Ethel Hall Burleson; her brother, Tommy Burleson; and her sister, Mary Lou Burleson Wilson.
Linda was born on April 29, 1944, in Yancey County, North Carolina. She dedicated her working years as a nurse in a nursing home, caring for others with compassion and strength. She was a woman who deeply loved her family and found joy in spending time together, especially cooking meals and creating memories around the table.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Meritta Burleson Good; her nephews, Edwin Burleson, Nicholas Burleson, Tony Good, Dakota Good, and Anthony Mace; and her nieces, Krissy Mace, Krisha Stewart, and Hope Good, along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Thomas Family Cemetery in Burnsville, NC. Reverend Ronnie Whitson will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Yancey County Humane Society at 828-682-9510 in Linda’s memory. She would have loved that.
Linda will be remembered for her caring heart, her dedication to her family, and the warmth she brought to those around her.
