
On March 25- 27, thirteen students from Mitchell High School’s HOSA (Future Health Professionals Student Organization) traveled to Greensboro to compete and engage in leadership opportunities at the NC HOSA State Leadership Conference. Students participated in Competitive Events, Health Career Expo, Educational Symposia, and a HOSA “Goosechase.” Students prepared for several months to compete against approximately 5,000 students in their specific events in a variety of areas including: Biomedical Debate, Biotechnology, Clinical Nursing, Family Physician Medicine, Healthcare Photography, Health Education (Eating Disorders), Human Growth and Development, Job Seeking Skills, and Veterinary Science. This was the first time each of these competitors competed in these specific events.

Rue Rambo-Mohr placed 3rd in Veterinary Science and will advance to the International Leadership Conference in Indianapolis to compete against HOSA members from the US as well as other countries. Ambrose Brown, Jose Reyes, and Yendi Munoz placed top 8 alternate.
