Nina Allen Griffin, age 73 of the Pensacola Community of Burnsville, NC, went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Carnal and Lizzie Allen. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Griffin; brothers: Floyd, Jack, James, and Gerald Allen.
Nina loved the simple joys of life such as gardening, tending to her flowers, and spending time outdoors, especially when she was with her family. She found happiness in nature, whether she was fishing or just enjoying the fresh air. She dedicated many years of her life working as a correctional officer at Mitchell-Avery prison before retiring. Above all, Nina was a wonderful and selfless caregiver, lovingly caring for her husband, Henry, during the last 15 years of his life. She will always be remembered as the best mom ever.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughters, Nancy Ray and Glenda Ray; grandsons: Cody Ray and Cy Woodby; and her most precious great-granddaughter, Emery Ray; brothers: John Allen, and his wife, Sheila, and Edward Allen; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9th, 2026, at Yancey Funeral Services. A graveside service will be held the following day, Friday, April 10th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Allen Family Cemetery in the Pensacola Community on Ewart Wilson Road.
Pallbearers will include: Cody Ray, Cy Woodby, David Allen, Adam Allen, Garland Allen, and Gary White.
