Bakersville Creekwalk Preview

Community members are invited to attend a public drop-in event on Thursday, April 16, to preview draft design concepts for the Bakersville Creekwalk.

This event marks the next step in a community-driven process to re-envision the Creekwalk following damage from Hurricane Helene. In March, residents participated in an initial engagement session to share how they use the space, what they value, and what they would like to see improved or restored. That input—along with insights gained through the AIA Design Assistance Team (DAT) process in 2025—has helped shape the draft designs.

Building on that work, the Bakersville Beautification Association, with support from the Appalachian Design Center, is advancing a design plan that reflects community priorities and will serve as a resource for local officials.

The April 16 event provides an opportunity for residents to review draft concepts and share feedback.
