Free Help to Navigate Medicaid and Access Care

unnamed-7-2
NCMedHelp offers free, one-on-one support to help people understand and navigate North Carolina’s complex Medicaid and public benefits systems.
Western North Carolina residents can contact Pisgah Legal for help. Staff have extensive knowledge and experience in navigating health care systems in NC and can provide a comprehensive approach to solving issues.
“We are able to look at the full picture and help in multiple ways,” said Thomas Lodwick, Managing Attorney at Pisgah Legal Services. “Many clients come to us with a Medicaid question, but our staff are trained to identify other related issues, such as housing or disaster recovery. We can connect them to free legal help if needed or other community resources.”
Staff can help individuals:
  • Fix problems with billing, prescriptions, and non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT)
  • Find a doctor or other services
  • Sort out information and system errors that may prevent access to care and medications
  • Understand Medicaid benefits and rights
  • File complaints and appeals
