Julia Pearl McIntyre Begley, age 83, of Spruce Pine, NC died peacefully on July 9, 2026, at home surrounded by her children.
She was born on March 1, 1943 in Savannah, GA, the daughter of the late Tracy and Josephine McIntyre. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Tracy Lee McIntyre Jr. and David Bryant (DB) McIntyre and her son; Tracy Lee McIntyre II.
Julia (Judy) spent most of her life in Savannah, moving to the mountains in her retirement. In her younger years, she was a go go dancer, and she always kept her love of dance. She was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America Troop 115 when her children were growing up, and was proud of her involvement with the Scottish Clan MacIntyre Association and Highland Games participation throughout the years. She loved camping and being outdoors, was a wiz at jigsaw puzzles, and will be remembered for her playful sense of humor and fierce love for her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by daughter; Irene (Joe) Begley Miller, son; James Patrick (Pat) Begley Jr., grandchildren; David McIntyre, Michael McIntyre, James Ian McIntyre, Julia Miller, Joel (Patrick) Begley, Jill McIntyre, Paul Miller, Tessie Miller, brother; Walter McIntyre, daughter-in-law; Lori McIntyre, dear friend; Caitlin Ledford, as well as eight great-grandchildren.
A private funeral mass has already been held in Spruce Pine, and her remains will be interred in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah, GA at a later date.
