I just read on WKYK news that a man was arrested in Yancey County and charged as a habitual felon. However, he was released on an unsecured bond (i.e. no money required). This seems crazy considering that the sentencing for this is many more years in prison. Even people with misdeamenor charges usually have at least a small cash bond. What is our DA thinking.
