Here’s a thought to ponder…
Personally, I track and think about all information I assess to either use or discard as as disinformation or misinformation. There’s really no “the people” who think broadly that everything is or is not Information, disinformation or misinformation in my experience. Some of what I assess is not, in fact disinformation or misinformation even when it is useless. When I determine for my own use that it is, I sometimes warn others about what I’ve found because of all the harm I’ve seen misinformation and disinformation do. I find that the rabbit holes out there really aren’t about right or left and there are people who went down them who started as either one. As a huge critic of government and big business myself I am very aware of the dangers there. They have long been there. What seemed weird to me at first was the speed at which the rabbit holes were dug, though. I wasn’t on social media, so I couldn’t see kt happening in real time. But when I started asking the people who lost family down those rabbit holes how it happend the stories were sadly similar. Then, with some additional research, it wasn’t weird, just understandable.
