Charles Edward “Eddie” Robinson, Sr., age 87, of the Upper Browns Creek Community, went Home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 30th, 2023 at the Mitchell House. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Luther Martin and Sally Burgin Robinson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Thomas Robinson, who passed away in 2016; infant grandson, Dennis Woody, Jr.; three brothers: Lloyd Robinson (Dorothy), Clarence Robinson (Lois) and Newel Robinson; sister-in-law, Iris Woody (Junior); and brother-in-law, Clyde McIntosh.
Eddie loved telling stories, enjoyed all sports, and traveling, especially to state and national parks. He knew everyone, being the Little Debbie distributor for Yancey and Mitchell Counties, and was a friend to all. He was a member of Celo United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a son, Charles Robinson (Vicki) of Burnsville; daughter, Angela Woody (Dennis) of Spruce Pine; five grandchildren: Laura Laws (Scottie), Charles Robinson, III (Lauren), Amanda Fender (Zach), Donna Woody, and Robert Woody (Kara); ten great-grandchildren: Jessica, Britney, Ashlyn (Blake), Zachary, Hadley, Jaxon, Abigail, Fynlie, Kinslee and Rebecca; two sisters-in-law: Glenna McIntosh and Marquietta Wilson (Danny); brother-in-law, Jimmy Thomas, and a nephew, Ervin Robinson (Jane).
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1st, in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Service. Rev. Warren Lunsford and Rev. Toby Crowder will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ballew Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Zach Fender, Chucky Robinson, Zachary Robinson, Scottie Laws, Robert Woody and Blake Dahlberg. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
