Richard Daniel Shuford II, age 45, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 10th, 2023 at Mission Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Sandra Kay Jarvis Shuford and Richard Daniel Shuford I. He was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Stanley and Zora Shuford, and maternal grandparents, Delford and Vinecie Jarvis, as well as his cat, Tigger.
Daniel loved to tell stories about 18-wheelers and how they work, and was an avid Coca Cola collector. He loved spending time at work with his father who was co-owner of Shufford Lumber Company. He always enjoyed spending the summer fishing with his grandmother in West Virginia.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Cassandra Horton and husband, Randy of Spruce Pine; a niece, Mia Kay Horton, and two nephews, Landran Guinn and Maverick Ray Horton, all of Spruce Pine; special aunt and uncle, Martha and Jackson Jarvis of West Virginia; aunt, Linda Hendricks; and cousins: Jamie Jarvis, Jody Kinslow, Tom Kinslow, Jackson Kinslow and Abby Kinslow. Several extended family members also survive him.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, February 17th in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Rev. Bruce Cannon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Autrey Cemetery.
