Why and among who do you think the subdivision ordinance has caused discord? Who has authored the discord there is and why? While the Village of Penland is a great example of a large scale fraud that could have been avoided by a subdivision ordinance, it is merely one example and has nothing to do with the local small scale developers who make land development deals that promote unsafe or sketchy development that isn’t “five lots in a hollar” for a family. Insinuating that people who won’t even be affected will be is usually the MO for these guys stirring the pot to try to get their way. Well, we know for many decades complaints about laws have been engineered to rile people up who those laws don’t even affect. There’s at least as much invented “discord” hurting Mitchell County as there has been poorly written laws. And that’s really saying something considering the poorly written laws that seem to sometimes be the rule across the entire state.
