George Alec Angel, age 91, of Burnsville, passed away on Friday, March 10th, 2023 at Madison Health & Rehabilitation. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Willard and Hazel Riddle Angel. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Angel, and two sisters, Mable Angel and Kathy Hylemon.
George loved being in the woods where he went fox hunting, ginsenging, and digging ramps. He was an avid fan of Dolly Parton. Another pastime for him was hanging out at the store with his buddies.
He is survived by a brother, James Angel (Mary); two nephews: Anthony Angel and Jeff Angel (Sherri), all of Woodfin; two great-nephews: Stephen Angel (Autumn) of Hickory and Michael Angel (Emma) of Burnsville; great, great-niece, Bella Angel; and two great, great-nephews: Ayden Angel and Avery Angel, all of Hickory. A number of cousins also survive him.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15th in the McIntosh Cemetery.
