On Thursday evening, April 27th, Sheriff Shane Hilliard and other community leadership, organizations, and churches are sponsoring an inspiring evening of food, live gospel music, powerful stories of life transformation, and the introduction of Freedom Life Yancey. The event begins at 6:30 PM, is completely free, and will be held at Burnsville Town Center.
Doors for the event will open at 6:00 PM where a BBQ dinner will be served. Gospel music will begin at 6:30. All in attendance will have an opportunity to see and hear of God’s amazing work in the lives of people lost in hopelessness and despair.
The purpose of this event is to give people within the Yancey County community the opportunity to experience firsthand the impact of hope Freedom Life brings to the lives of the hopeless. Every year, hundreds of men and women who are residents of Yancey County experience the hopelessness and brokenness that leads to being incarcerated. This impacts their lives, their families, their children, and our Yancey community as a whole. Without the power of God and very directed and comprehensive programming, people’s cycles of addiction, brokenness, and incarceration will continue and be passed down generationally. 80% of people who face incarceration had someone close to them that faced incarceration.
How long will this endless cycle of hopelessness and destruction go on in our community? Is there a way to effectively turn the tide? The good news is, THERE IS! FREEDOM LIFE YANCEY! Learn exactly how Freedom Life Yancey, a Christ-based nonprofit organization, will be partnering with churches, agencies, organizations, and county leadership to address the complex needs of the addicted and incarcerated living within the Yancey County community.
