Zenas Douglas Metcalf, age 74 of Burnsville, went Home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2023.
He was born on September 4, 1948, to the late Zenas and Willie Ayers Metcalf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorris Metcalf.
Doug had a caring heart. He was like a brother to so many who knew him and a friend to everyone he met. Doug loved to feed the birds, rabbits, squirrels, and other animals around his home. Being outside enjoying the weather, his family and animals were a few of his favorite past times. He also enjoyed tending to his garden, growing tomatoes, peppers, and many other vegetables.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Brenda (Kyle) Farley of Burnsville, Laura Peterson of Burnsville, Julie (Tim) Tipton of Burnsville; sister, Lynne Metcalf; grandchildren: Justin Barnett, Dylan Chandler, Anna Cox, Gracie Tipton, Elizabeth Peterson, and Christopher Farley.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2023, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and loved ones two hours prior to the service for visitation. Burial will follow the service in the Holcombe Cemetery in Burnsville. Pastor Robert Norris will be officiating.
