Maurice D. Hall, age 87, of the Newdale Community, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11th, 2023 at his home. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Mills and Olivia Hilliard Hall.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Edward D. Hall; brother, Royce Hall; sister, Betty Shehan; brothers-in-law: Leroy Bishop and his wife, Clara and Joe Wilson and his father and mother-in-law, Dale and Edna Bishop.
Maurice was above all a Christian and ready to meet the Lord. He was a US Army Veteran who enjoyed fishing especially with his buddy, Charles Gilley.
When Maurice meets with his son and those gone before, I can see him and Eddie waiting in a boat on the most beautiful lake that can be imagined, waiting for the rest of the guys to get there.
Surviving is his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Louise Bishop Hall; son, Maurice Alan Hall; grandchildren: Tyler, Joshua and Kyvie; special niece, Susan Good; great-nephew, TJ Good; sisters-in-law: Joyce Wilson and Peggy McMahan (Jim) and brother-in-law, Bobby Bishop and wife, Louise. Many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends also survive.
No service is planned per Maurice’s request.
