David Arthur Ollis

David Arthur Ollis, age 80, of Pine Grove Church Road in Spruce Pine, graduated from this life to begin his eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Born in Avery County on August 31, 1942, he was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel ‘Bo’ Ollis and Bessie McGee Ollis. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Chris Ollis, three sisters and a niece.

He loved his family, he loved his Lord and he loved people. He was a generous, loving man that had the ability to make everyone he met feel special and appreciated. He loved the mountains as well as being up for any outdoor activity. His favorite pass time was traveling backroads in a vehicle or ATV. But, his life was centered around his church which he served faithfully as deacon, superintendent and gospel music singer for fifty-five years.

Since his retirement from Henredon Furniture in 2010, he has enjoyed a life of peace and contentment. His last several years were made far richer by the fellowship, food and fun activities of the wonderful staff and host of friends at the Mitchell County Senior Center.

Left to cherish his memory is his son; James A. Ollis of Spruce Pine; his daughters; Tammy Mitchell of Morganton and Stacey Peterson and husband, Greg of Bluff City, TN; his daughter-in-law; Christy Ollis of Spruce Pine; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
