Spruce Pine Police Arrest Two On Multiple Charges

(Press Release from Spruce Pine Police Department. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.)

On 07/05/2023 the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office and Spruce Pine Police Department assisted North Carolina Probation and Parole with a warrantless search of Taylor Liles per the conditions of his supervised probation. Liles resides at 92 Boone Street in Spruce Pine. During the course of the search, Officers located several items that led to an investigation. Officers recovered quantities of marijuana, extracted marijuana resin, psilocybin mushrooms, methamphetamine, schedule II and schedule IV-controlled substances, a Glock handgun, a Ruger rifle, $7,211 in cash and several items of paraphernalia consistent with the selling/delivering of controlled substances. Upon further investigation, the following people were charged by Spruce Pine Sergeant/Detective MP Burleson:

Taylor Liles: Possess Methamphetamine, Felony Simple Possession Sch II CS, Felony Simple Possession Sch IV CS, PWIMSD Methamphetamine, PWIMSD Sch II CS, Possession of Firearm By Felon, Possess Drug Paraphernalia

Aubrey Crain: (2) Felony Possession Sch VI CS, Felony Possession Sch I CS, PWIMSD Sch VI CS, PWIMSD Sch I CS, Possess Drug Paraphernalia.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges could result. The activities that were occurring at this residence were creating an unsafe environment not only for the children who live there, but also our community as a whole. It is our duty to try and keep Spruce Pine a safe place to live.
