Not so elites

Many of the laws made by who some call the elites …and by others who aren’t so elite… allow “them” …and sometimes “us”… to to abide by the law and still be behaving badly or doing things others cannot. Around here I hear people call others “elite,” some meaning it as an insult, some meaning it as a compliment. But for the life of me I can’t figure out the measure by which anyone is determined to be elite. And I hear and see people trying to stop good laws with that elitist argument just because they want to be able to do what they want to other people without having to be “elite” themselves. They think “that’s the way it’s done.” How did they get to thinking like that? I grew up spending time in a place where the mob, you know, crime syndicates, were prevalent. It all seems an awful lot like that to me. Mob bosses and wanna be mob bosses competing to see who gets to tell the rest of us what to do! They just want laws that make it legal these days.
…and they often get them …if they are elite or not.
